Tycho and I took another trip into insane city fighting with ITR-6. This features the SS in Budapest Hungary fighting off two groups of Russians coming in from the East and West (Top and Bottom) of the map.
Once again it is just highlights since I did not have the logging on throughout the game - internet was going in and out to boot.
Late war, 20 German squads = 40 Panzerfausts in Factories (so no backblast). I was going to put these babies to use!
 |
| Start of Game. The Russians have to take possession of the Factory in the middle and the one off to the right (just above roadblock). The Germans get 3 JgPanzers with 75LL guns and two 75L guns and fortified locations. I use the Fortified locations to setup the guns on second level (level 1) locations so they can see over the rubble and debris. |
 |
| Second gun to fire gacks on its first roll... Later on the HMG downstairs gacks on its first roll too. On the plus side the crew managed to do some damage to Russians moving in the open later on. On the negative side I should have put an anti-tank minefield in the hex for when a Russian tank wondered in. Crew never found a Faust OR an ATMM... In the middle factory though just about everyone found a Faust or two (or three over a couple turns) by the end of the game I had popped off 17 of the little beauties... |

 |
| Near the end of the game. Notes show the final moves as well. Although my one gun gacked on the first shot the other one took out two enemy tanks before being smoked in by the Russian Artillery piece. The crew then went on to hold out for two rounds of CC. The Russians moved two tanks down the street - I fired a hidden Shrek at one, hit it, and then remembered that firing along the spine is a front shot - a side shot would have been deadly while a front shot went PING! Another half squad I had waiting upstairs with Russians downstairs for half the game reached for a Faust and rolled a six... Meanwhile the ISUs entered the factory through the wall and was killed by a 0 range faust shot. Another tried a space over to the same result except it caught fire too. |
End result is the Russians called it end of turn 4. They had 3 turns left, nobody in the second factory and the first factory would take at least two more turns to clear. The Germans started out getting two very bad malfs (the AT Gun and the HMG) but ended up winning a couple of very important CCs by ambush. They then held on a couple turns in three other CCs when the Russians needed to MOVE! Finally the Russian dice went to crap later on with 3 or 4 MGs in the south breaking in the last couple of turns.
Next stop is "Bridge of the Seven Planets", we need to get away from Cities and late war for a bit...
